The role sits at the intersection of commercial management and dispute advisory, offering exposure beyond traditional delivery roles and a clear pathway into higher-value specialist work.
This is not a standard Commercial Manager position. You will work on complex programmes where commercial outcomes are critical and often contested, alongside experienced specialists in a technically strong environment. You will contribute to the commercial management of major engineering projects while gaining exposure to dispute-related activity and quantum support.
Core responsibilities include:
- Leading commercial activities across major project workstreams
- Managing valuations, variations, forecasting and final accounts
- Administering contracts (NEC, FIDIC, JCT and bespoke forms)
- Supporting procurement, subcontract management and close-out
- Maintaining cost reporting, cashflow forecasting and change control
- Providing commercial insight across project teams
- Monitoring risks, opportunities and overall performance
You will also gain exposure to:
- Claims preparation, entitlement and quantum analysis
- Formal dispute processes (adjudication, mediation, arbitration)
- Review of project records, cost data and contractual correspondence
- Preparation of structured, evidence-based commercial narratives
- Working alongside experienced commercial and quantum specialists
The Candidate
This role would suit a commercially capable individual with 3-5 years experience in a QS or commercial role, looking to broaden their exposure and accelerate progression. You will bring:
- A degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or similar
- Experience within construction or infrastructure projects
- A strong understanding of NEC, FIDIC, JCT or similar contracts
- Commercial awareness across cost management and contract administration
- Strong analytical capability and confidence with data and reporting tools
- Clear communication and report-writing skills
Desirable:
- Progression toward MRICS or similar
- Exposure to claims, disputes or quantum-related work
- Experience within complex engineering or infrastructure environments
