This is an opportunity to join a specialist consultancy working at the forefront of complex engineering and infrastructure programmes. Typically engaged where projects are commercially challenged, delayed or in dispute, the business supports clients to bring clarity, control and resolution across high-risk, high-value environments.

The role sits at the intersection of commercial management and dispute advisory, offering exposure beyond traditional delivery roles and a clear pathway into higher-value specialist work.

This is not a standard Commercial Manager position. You will work on complex programmes where commercial outcomes are critical and often contested, alongside experienced specialists in a technically strong environment. You will contribute to the commercial management of major engineering projects while gaining exposure to dispute-related activity and quantum support.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Leading commercial activities across major project workstreams
  • Managing valuations, variations, forecasting and final accounts
  • Administering contracts (NEC, FIDIC, JCT and bespoke forms)
  • Supporting procurement, subcontract management and close-out
  • Maintaining cost reporting, cashflow forecasting and change control
  • Providing commercial insight across project teams
  • Monitoring risks, opportunities and overall performance

You will also gain exposure to:

  • Claims preparation, entitlement and quantum analysis
  • Formal dispute processes (adjudication, mediation, arbitration)
  • Review of project records, cost data and contractual correspondence
  • Preparation of structured, evidence-based commercial narratives
  • Working alongside experienced commercial and quantum specialists

The Candidate

This role would suit a commercially capable individual with 3-5 years experience in a QS or commercial role, looking to broaden their exposure and accelerate progression. You will bring:

  • A degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or similar
  • Experience within construction or infrastructure projects
  • A strong understanding of NEC, FIDIC, JCT or similar contracts
  • Commercial awareness across cost management and contract administration
  • Strong analytical capability and confidence with data and reporting tools
  • Clear communication and report-writing skills

Desirable:

  • Progression toward MRICS or similar
  • Exposure to claims, disputes or quantum-related work
  • Experience within complex engineering or infrastructure environments

This Opportunity Offers:

  • A clear pathway into commercial advisory and dispute work
  • Close collaboration with senior specialists and quantum experts
  • Structured development and mentoring
  • Long-term progression into specialist, higher-value roles
  • Support for further qualifications and professional development

Package:

  • Competitive salary
  • Annual bonus scheme
  • 25 days annual leave plus public holidays
  • Enhanced pension
  • Flexible start and finish times
  • Professional fees paid (RICS, CIOB, CIArb, SCL)
