As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will work within the Reliability Team to design, build, and maintain the services and tooling that ensure our platform remains stable, scalable, and observable. You will contribute to the reliability of systems across the entire customer journey, from content delivery to backâoffice management systems, ensuring a seamless and dependable experience for our customers and their endâusers.
In this role, you will adopt an APIâfirst approach, collaborate closely with SREs, platform teams, and product stakeholders, and work extensively with AWS and DataDog. You will also be expected to quickly pick up new projects, work autonomously, and champion modern SRE practices across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities- Backend Engineering (Java & TypeScript) â Build and maintain highâquality, maintainable services and APIs using Java and TypeScript, working on the latest modern frameworks to legacy inâhouse frameworks.
- AWS Cloud Engineering (AWS CDK) â Develop, operate & understand cloudânative workloads using AWS services such as Lambda, ECS/EKS, DynamoDB, and S3.
- Observability & Monitoring (DataDog) â Create and maintain dashboards, alerts, logs, and distributed traces to ensure service health and visibility and use these to faultâfind and investigate issues.
- CI/CD (GitHub Actions) â Develop, design and operate Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery processes for testing and deploying software.
- APIâFirst Development â Design and work with clear, consistent APIs that support customer journeys and crossâteam integrations.
- Understanding the Customer Journey â Work with product teams to understand endâtoâend customer flows and ensure reliability improvements have meaningful user impact.
- Adopting SRE Practices â Contribute to building SLIs/SLOs, error budgets, resilience patterns, automation, and operational readiness checks.
- Rapid Project Onboarding â Quickly understand and contribute to systems, domains, and codebases with minimal rampâup time.
- Operational Excellence â Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement activities to reduce toil and enhance reliability.
- Pension Scheme: Autoâenrolled after 3 months' service, 5% employee contribution, matched by 5% from Amplience.
