At Amplience, we are transforming how global brands create, manage and deliver content. We provide a powerful, unified platform spanning Content Management Systems, Data Asset Management and Content Supply Chain solutions so retailers can move faster, smarter and with confidence.
Our vision is simple but bold: a world where content moves at the speed of ideas. We are growing and doing things differently. That means flexibility in how and where you work, a genuinely collaborative culture, and the chance to learn from smart people solving real-world problems. We believe great work happens when people feel supported, trusted and able to live well outside of work.
What youâll be doing
As a Lead Software Engineer, you will lead a team that owns one of Amplienceâs core systems, overseeing both the stability and enhancement of the existing platform while driving new feature development. By collaborating closely with architects and stakeholders, you will ensure reliability, performance, and continuous innovation to meet evolving business needs. This includes:
- Technical Leadership â You will provide technical direction across the software development lifecycle, ensuring best practices, high standards and scalable solutions.
- HandsâOn Engineering â You will contribute directly to the codebase, helping deliver sprint goals and tackling complex technical challenges.
- Team Leadership and Coaching â You will lineâmanage a small, highâperforming engineering team including mentoring, coaching and fostering a collaborative engineering culture.
- Platform Ownership â You will ensure the stability, performance, and evolution of a mission-critical platform, working closely with architects and stakeholders to drive innovation.
What youâll bring
You will bring a strong background in software engineering, with handsâon experience building systems in Java and TypeScript. You will have commercial experience with AWS and its core services, have familiarity with NoSQL principles (DynamoDB would be a bonus), and have worked with search technologies. Ideally, you will have designed and delivered eventâdriven, asynchronous systems, and understand how to build, deploy and operate software using CI/CD pipelines and automation best practices. We would love to see on CVs how youâve built scalable, highly available platforms, and that youâre familiar with REST and GraphQL API design principles.
Beyond your technical expertise working in complex, missionâcritical systems and ideally SaaS environments, you must also have a background in a technical leadership or team lead capacity, where youâve mentored engineers, provided technical direction, or lineâmanaged team members.
If youâre excited by technology, have a passion for learning and want to be part of a company shaping the future of e-commerce content, weâd love to hear from you. By joining Amplience you can help content move at the speed of ideas.
Whatâs in it for you
At Amplience, we believe great work happens when people feel supported, trusted, and able to live well beyond work. Thatâs why we offer Flexi Fridays, companyâwide recharge days and a paid day off in your birthday month, giving you genuine time to rest and reset. Youâll benefit from a competitive pension, the option to buy extra holiday and the flexibility of remote working, alongside access to the latest tech, a cycleâtoâwork scheme, and an advanced season ticket loan. We invest in your future too, with learning and development opportunities, study leave and life assurance, plus volunteering leave so you can give back. On top of that, youâll get to work with some great people who are truly passionate about what they do. While the role is predominantly remote, we have connection days once a month in either our Middlesbrough or Manchester hub to connect, collaborate and strengthen relationships with your team.
