Ampleforth Abbey Trust, a registered charity, works alongside the monastic community to support this mission. With around 60 lay staff, the Trust delivers on a five-year strategy, choosing a Future Together, to ensure a sustainable, faith-led future for the Abbey and its valley home.
We are looking for a Management Accountant who will embrace the opportunity to work in a charitable organisation and who will support the Finance Director in the preparation of the monthly management accounts, year-end statutory financial statements, and other key finance tasks.
Main Responsibilities but not limited to:
- Financial Analysis: Review and analyse financial data to provide insights that support business objectives and decision-making.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Prepare budgets, forecasts, and financial reports to guide management in planning and resource allocation.
- Reporting: Prepare monthly management accounts to present to the Finance Director highlighting financial trends and variances.
- Collaboration: Work closely with operational teams to provide financial guidance, assist with cost control measures and analyse variances to allow managers ensure financial efficiency and effectiveness.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with financial regulations and assess financial risks to safeguard the organisation’s assets.
Skills and Attributes:
- Educational Background: qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or part qualified working towards qualified.
- Analytical Skills: Strong numerical and analytical abilities to interpret financial data to support senior management in making informed decisions.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in accounting software and financial modelling tools, as well as excellent Excel skills.
