The Vacancy

As a Material Process Engineer, you will be an integral part of a dynamic team working to enhance and optimize our electroplating and metal finishing processes. You will collaborate closely with chemical analysts, operators, and management to ensure the plating processes are efficient, high-quality, and meet safety standards. This role also involves developing new plating techniques and finishes to support current and future business needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with the team to implement continuous improvements in plating processes, ensuring compliance with quality, environment, and health & safety standards.
  • Chemical Maintenance: Perform regular checks and maintenance of chemicals to ensure timely and efficient production processes.
  • Process Development: Develop, prepare, and produce PFMEA materials for New Product Introduction (NPI) and ongoing process developments.
  • Training & Support: Monitor and support team training, update Skills Matrices, and provide troubleshooting guides to improve individual and team performance.
  • Health & Safety: Manage risk assessments, COSHH, and other health and safety documentation to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Waste Management & Compliance: Oversee the wastewater effluent system and hazardous waste removal, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Subcontracting & External Collaboration: Manage subcontracted work, negotiate costs, and timelines.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Quality, Scrap & Rework Reduction
  • Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM)
  • On-Time In-Full (OTIF)
  • Successful Audits

Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree in Chemistry or a Science-based discipline, ideally with expertise in electroplating or material finishes.
  • Experience in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
  • Strong knowledge in Health & Safety, especially in chemical handling and plating processes.
  • Proficient in developing and producing PFMEA processes, diagrams, and procedures.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and provide technical support across the team.
