The Vacancy

We are recruiting for a Buyer to join our team and be r esponsible for ensuring materials, components and services are available to support production schedules through effective supplier management and purchase order control.

The role requires a proactive approach, maintaining regular contact with suppliers, anticipating potential delivery issues and working collaboratively to resolve challenges before they impact the business.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Raise and manage purchase orders in line with production schedules and business requirements.
  • Maintain regular contact with suppliers to monitor order status and delivery commitments.
  • Proactively expedite purchase orders and challenge suppliers where delivery dates are at risk.
  • Build positive working relationships with suppliers to ensure open communication and effective problem solving.
  • Take ownership of supply-related issues, working with suppliers to identify solutions and minimise disruption to production.
  • Communicate potential shortages, delays or risks to internal stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Work closely with planning, production and stores teams to understand changing priorities and material requirements.
  • Review MRP and purchasing reports to identify purchasing requirements and actions required.
  • Ensure purchasing data, order information and supplier records are accurately maintained.
  • Support stock accuracy and participate in stocktaking activities as required.
  • Identify opportunities to improve supplier performance, communication and purchasing processes.
