Vacancy Purpose of the role: To support the business with the production of moulded components in line with the business needs and processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Mixes and mills mould materials – this involves the mixing of a variety of ingredients to a detailed process instruction, ensuring batch traceability and mixture of material is correct at all times.
  • Manually loads and sets bolsters/tools in machines ensuring correct tooling is used and tooling is in good condition prior to use.
  • Sets parameters of machine to ensure quality moulding, these typically include time, temperature, injection rates etc.
  • Produces first off components and carries out inspection of parts ensuring parts conform to quality standards, specs and drawings.
  • Operates both injection and compression mould machines – this involves the manual loading and unloading of tools and components from machines, plus the loading of hoppers with raw material or preparation of material slugs.
  • Will carry out inspection during production run in line with 'in process inspection' practice to ensure product quality is maintained.
  • Makes adjustments to settings if required during production run.
  • Ensures tools are correctly managed during production run by means of good cleaning, use of release agents etc.
  • Alerts and liaises with toolroom in case of tool failure.
  • Hand trimming of parts using a scalpel or similar instrument if required to remove excess flash etc.
  • Produces components within given takt time and standard production rates.
  • Carries out the post cure treatment of moulded parts – this involves the loading and unloading parts into ovens, ensuring correct temperature and times are selected for materials being post cured.
  • Test and inspects mould materials using a Curometer.
  • Carries out the deflashing of components by use of cryotrim machine – this involves the unloading and loading of machine ensuring correct settings are being used for materials being processed and inspection of parts after cryotrim process.

Person Specification:

Qualifications:

  • GCSE in English and Maths
  • Any form of Engineering / Moulding qualification an advantage

Experience:

  • Experience of working in an injection moulding facility
  • Setting moulding machines
  • Operating and changing mould tooling
  • In‑process inspection
  • Experience and ability to read and understand technical drawings, Process Instructions, Manufacturing Instructions
  • Working in an aerospace environment

Technical:

  • Technical understanding of compression moulding and injection moulding processes
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawing

Skills and Competencies:

  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks over long periods while maintaining high standards
  • Hard working and able to stay focused
  • Ability to work to deadlines and targets whilst maintaining quality
  • Good hand dexterity and eye‑to‑hand coordination
