Based in Whitstable, AMAR designs and manufactures high-quality precision components for harsh and demanding environments for a broad range of applications in sectors such as oil and gas, aerospace, marine, nuclear and defence.

The Vacancy:

Purpose of the role: To maximise sales conversion through efficient processing of enquiries and orders, and thorough, timely customer contact from the Sales Office. To provide sales support within Martec to ensure seamless service is delivered to the client base in a timely manner. To work with and support the Business Development Managers and Sales Coordinators.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Engaging with Martec clients both on and off site in a supporting role and independently where applicable as requested by the management team with the aim of growing the customer account in line with Strategic goals.
  • Implementing, contributing to, and maintaining office-based Sales procedures in accordance with the applicable Martec Standard Practices and the Martec Quality system, whilst maintaining and exceeding the departmental and individual KPI requirements.
  • Maintains our customer database, ensuring all activities from the team are recorded within the Opportunity Tracker where appropriate and providing reports and analysis as required.
  • Process new sales enquiries, including the collation of information used to determine acceptance of NPI enquiries.
  • Preparation of quotes - use technical drawing to identify BOM, gather required information including negotiation with component suppliers for use in calculation of product pricing.
  • Follow up with client after quotation to maximize conversion rates within agreed KPI’s.
  • Order Processing – conduct contract review on orders to ensure accuracy prior to processing via ERP system.
  • Ensure customer requested delivery is achieved within SLA targets, identification of issues so that escalation and countermeasures can be put in place, avoiding customer shipping failures.
  • Providing customer liaison in the event of delays or issues with products and services.
  • To ensure export compliance when processing quotations and orders is adhered to (where applicable).
  • Analyse order frequency and prompt customer to raise orders as required.
  • Update the team revenue tracker to ensure forecast accuracy on a monthly/quarterly/annual basis.
  • Hosting and supporting regular customer meetings via Teams: Open order book reviews / OTIF and general Q&A.
  • Providing management information relating to the sales pipeline and quotation performance.
  • Ensure customer complaints are dealt with in a timely manner and closed out with full route cause analysis, corresponding action plan, and customer report in line with standard processes.
  • Processing New customer application.
  • Supporting in general sales administration activities as required such as NDAs.
  • Develop and maintain a broad understanding of the Martec product and service offering.
  • Engage in regular training and self-learning to ensure you can educate customers on products.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the hermetic market dynamics and its customers including OEMs and distribution.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the customer's decision-making process and recommend/implement actions to obtain sales as a result.
  • Carry out such other duties that may be reasonably requested.

Person Specification:

Qualifications: Passed both Maths and English GCSE Grade 5 (or equivalent).

Experience: Advantageous in having prior experience in a similar role.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Customer and relationship focused.
  • Strong communicator (written and verbal English).
  • Ability to organise and prioritise.
  • IT and system skills experience of Microsoft and ERP, MRP or CRM.
