Based in Whitstable, AMAR designs and manufactures high-quality precision components for harsh and demanding environments for a broad range of applications in sectors such as oil and gas, aerospace, marine, nuclear and defence.

We’re looking for a hands-on Engineering Technician to join our Product Development team and play a key role in New Product Introduction (NPI) activities. This position sits at the heart of engineering and production, supporting the build, test, evaluation, and documentation of new products and prototypes. You’ll work closely with design engineers, process engineers, quality, and operations to develop and validate manufacturing methods, troubleshoot issues, and help transition new products into full-rate production.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Assemble prototypes and support low-volume development builds
  • Carry out electrical, hermeticity, pressure, and environmental testing in line with engineering instructions and regulatory requirements
  • Record and report build data, test results, and nonconformances clearly and accurately
  • Support root-cause analysis and corrective actions during NPI builds
  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements
  • Collaborate with engineers to refine build processes, tooling, and work instructions
  • Maintain prototype documentation, including material traceability and test records
  • Assist with fixture, tooling, and equipment setup and troubleshooting
  • Support First Article Inspection (FAIR) and qualification builds alongside Quality
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and procedural standards at all times

Experience & Qualifications:

  • HNC/HND, Level 3/4 engineering qualification, or similar (advantageous but not essential)
  • Equivalent hands-on experience in manufacturing, electronics, or mechanical assembly will be considered
  • Experience in aerospace, defence, electronics, or other high-reliability manufacturing environments is highly desirable

You’re comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, follow structured processes, and communicate effectively with engineers and production staff.
