The Vacancy:
Purpose of the role:
To ensure the smooth daily running of the area ensuring all targets as defined by the Production Manager and in line with the scope are met on time whilst maintaining Quality and Health & Safety standards.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Organising daily workload and resources to ensure that work is carried out to the manufacturing schedule to achieve production KPIβs β OTD / Quality / Arrears lines and Values / Late Starts monitoring.
- Work closely with the Planning Team to understand and achieve the production requirements for the cell.
- Plan / delegate team priorities on a daily basis as appropriate, authorize team members holiday requests and follow up periods of absence / sickness.
- Initial processing of Health and Safety β Accident and Near Miss reporting and follow up / Risk Assessments and COSHH and Quality issues β Responsible for scrap / rework / Not Right First-Time identification and improvement.
- Actively supporting and implementing initiatives to improve skill and flexibility levels β ensuring up to date skills matrices and effectively trained operators, including temporary labour. To ensure adequate cover is in place to provide a flexible service to ensure skills gaps are always covered in periods of Operators absence. E.g. Adequate holiday cover to ensure smooth running of the cell. Be actively involved in recruitment processes, interviews, assessments, reviews.
- Maintain a skills matrix for your area of responsibility to ensure a match between skill resource and anticipated workload at all times.
- Responsibility for daily production and Quality performance against given KPI targets per above.
- Set and Run assigned machinery safely as trained and required
- Ensure First Offs / In process inspections are carried out as appropriate.
- Carry out Team Briefs and Tool Box Talks aligned to Health and Safety / OTD / Quality / Arrears and other Key Business Processes and Policies.
- Deputising for the Production Manager as and when required
- Ensuring the efficient running of the cell including measurement and monitoring of the defined KPIs per above and completion of Cell Metrics Boards
- Complete daily performance metrics and communicate results with the team. Facilitate resolution and improvement of measures with team.
- Manage log and follow up requests for Engineering Support
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping in line with 5C Company Policies and Procedures, ensuring daily checks are being carried out
- Ensure all employees, visitors and contractors follow established Health and Safety procedures, including the correct use of PPE where applicable. Manage the cell to ensure only those authorised are allowed to enter
- Carries out such other duties that may be reasonably requested.

Qualifications:
Experience:
- Good Health and safety Awareness
- Proven experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Supervising or leading a team.
- Working to and achieving KPIs (e.g., Safety, Quality, Delivery etc).
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production planning and quality systems
Technical:
- PC literacy including Microsoft office programs
- Able to read CAD drawings and Conduct First Off Inspection
- MRP / ERP production system knowledge
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong organisational and planning skills.
- Ability to delegate tasks and manage teamβs changing priorities effectively.
- Manage sickness, absence, and holiday cover.
- Capable of conducting team briefs and toolbox talks
- Identify and resolve quality issues (scrap, rework, NRFT).
- Ability to work in a team and coordinate solutions.
- Skilled in performance management and coaching and conflict resolution
- Knowledge of quality control procedures and regulatory compliance
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills. English oral and written.
- Understanding of Health & Safety procedures including Risk Assessments and COSHH.
- Inspection procedures and first off checks
