We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Power Supply Design Engineer to join a dynamic engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing cutting-edge low- and high-power DC-DC, AC-DC, and DC-AC converters and inverters. Your work will play a critical role in powering a wide range of applications, from portable electronics to high-power industrial systems.
Responsibilities
- Power Supply Design: Lead the end-to-end design of DC-DC, AC-DC, and DC-AC converters and inverters, from concept through to production. Apply advanced design techniques to deliver high efficiency, reliability, and performance.
- Technical Expertise: Interpret system requirements and specifications to develop robust, cost-effective solutions that meet or exceed industry standards.
- Simulation & Prototyping: Use tools such as SPICE, PLECS, or similar to model and analyse designs. Build and test prototypes to validate performance and iterate where required.
- Component Selection: Work closely with procurement to select semiconductors, magnetics, and passive components, balancing performance, cost, and availability.
- Design Validation: Perform thorough testing to ensure compliance with safety, EMC/EMI, and relevant regulatory standards.
- Failure Analysis: Diagnose and resolve issues related to performance, efficiency, and reliability, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with hardware and software teams to integrate power solutions into broader systems.
- Documentation: Produce clear and detailed design documentation, including schematics, layout guidance, and specifications to support manufacturing.
- Innovation: Stay up to date with the latest developments in power electronics and continuously identify opportunities for improvement.
- Mentorship: Support and guide junior engineers, promoting best practices and technical excellence across the team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (PhD is advantageous).
- 5–8+ years’ experience in power supply design, covering DC-DC, AC-DC, and DC-AC converters/inverters.
- Strong understanding of power electronics, including semiconductors, magnetics, and control techniques.
- Experience with simulation tools (e.g., SPICE, PLECS) and design software such as Altium or Cadence.
- Familiarity with relevant standards (e.g., IEC, UL, IEEE).
- Hands-on experience with lab equipment for testing and validation.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex designs.
- Proven technical leadership and project ownership experience.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
