Senior Power Electronics Engineer Location: Oxford, UK The Role We are seeking a Senior Power Electronics Engineer to lead the design, development, and validation of high-power DC/DC converters used in experimental and research-driven applications . This role is well-suited to an engineer who enjoys working on novel architectures , rapidly evolving requirements, and translating theoretical concepts into robust, testable hardware. You will take technical ownership of power converter development from concept through to prototype testing, working closely with multidisciplinary teams across electronics, systems, and research functions. Key Responsibilities Design and develop high-power DC/DC converters (from hundreds of watts to multi-kW) for experimental and prototype systems Define power architectures, topologies, and control strategies suitable for non-standard or research-led applications Lead schematic design, component selection, and power stage optimisation (SiC / GaN / silicon as appropriate) Design and review magnetics (transformers, inductors) for high-power, high-efficiency operation Oversee PCB layout reviews with a strong focus on EMI, thermal performance, and high-voltage safety Build, test, and debug prototypes; lead lab-based validation and experimental testing Collaborate with systems, mechanical, and research teams to integrate power electronics into wider platforms Support documentation, design reviews, and knowledge transfer within the engineering team Required Skills
