Ampere Recruitment is seeking a Senior Power Electronics Engineer specialising in Silicon Carbide (SiC) technology for mid-power applications, focusing on DC-DC and DC-AC converters. This role requires a high level of expertise in simulation-driven design. The ideal candidate will bring hands‑on experience in power electronics, specifically with SiC devices, and a deep understanding of simulation tools to optimize performance, efficiency, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Development: Lead the design and optimisation of mid‑power SiC‑based power electronic systems, including DC‑DC converters (such as Buck, Boost, and Buck‑Boost converters) and DC‑AC inverters (single‑phase and three‑phase), to meet performance and efficiency targets.
- Simulation Expertise: Perform detailed simulations (thermal, electrical, and mechanical) to evaluate and refine converter and inverter designs. Utilise tools such as LTSpice, PLECS, MATLAB/Simulink, or similar to simulate key aspects such as:
- Switching Losses and Thermal Management
- Voltage Regulation and Power Conversion Efficiency
- Control Loop Stability and Transient Response
- Prototyping and Testing: Develop prototypes and oversee testing of DC‑DC and DC‑AC systems to validate designs against simulations, optimising for EMI/EMC compliance, reliability, and efficiency.
