  • Select appropriate core materials, winding techniques, and insulation systems for specific application requirements.
  • Collaborate with power electronics engineers to integrate magnetics into converter topologies (LLC, flyback, forward, full-bridge, resonant, etc.).
  • Validate designs through prototyping, laboratory testing, and compliance with relevant safety and EMC standards.
  • Support manufacturing partners in scaling designs from prototype to production, including cost and quality optimisation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to magnetic component performance in system-level testing.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of new materials, processes, and design techniques in magnetics and power electronics.
  • Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in the design and optimisation of magnetics for power electronics applications.
  • Proficiency with simulation tools such as ANSYS Maxwell, COMSOL, or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of core material properties, loss modelling, and winding layout optimisation.
  • Knowledge of high-frequency switching devices (SiC, GaN) and their impact on magnetic design.
  • Familiarity with thermal management in compact magnetic designs.
  • Ability to interpret schematics and work closely with PCB and mechanical design teams.
  • Experience with planar magnetics design for high-density converters.
  • Knowledge of industry standards (UL, IEC, DO-160, MIL-STD, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience in winding, assembling, and testing magnetic prototypes.
  • Familiarity with digital control systems and their influence on magnetics performance.
