We're working with a business pushing the boundaries of grid technology, and they're looking to hire a Senior Power Electronics Engineer to join their team. If you know your way around grid-connected inverter design and want to be properly hands-on from simulation through to prototype and validation, this one's worth a look.

As a Senior Power Electronics Engineer, you’ll be joining live projects from day one, working alongside mechanical, control and software engineers to get real hardware out the door. This isn't a role where you'll be stuck behind a desk producing reports nobody reads; you'll be designing, testing, debugging, and helping shape how the product actually performs in the field.

What you'll be doing:

  • Designing and developing power converters and controllers for grid-connected applications, including DC-DC/AC-DC systems and mixed-signal circuits (ADCs, PWM controllers).
  • Getting involved in PCB layout work with a real focus on signal integrity, interfacing power stages with transformers, digital controllers, filters and electromechanical systems.
  • Addressing thermal and EMI/EMC compliance, plus root-cause debugging across prototype and production.
  • Writing up specs, test reports and manuals, and working to real deadlines alongside a genuinely cross-functional team.

What you'll bring:

  • A degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering (or equivalent), and solid, ideally high-power, experience designing power electronics.
  • Comfort with circuit modelling and simulation tools like SPICE, Altium and MATLAB.
  • Experience with PCB design through to testing, and real lab and site testing experience with equipment like oscilloscopes, power analysers and grid emulators.
  • Some exposure to designing for large-scale manufacture would help, as would a willingness to travel occasionally for testing and commissioning.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with AC/DC, DC/AC or DC/DC converters specifically.
  • Low-noise mixed-signal design, EMC/EMI standards work, UL/TÜV certification experience, and PCB soldering/rework skills.
