Ampere Recruitment is working exclusively with a leading defense and security technology company to appoint a Lead Test Engineer at their Fareham campus. Our client designs and manufactures advanced electro-mechanical systems, including pioneering electric systems for some of the harshest environments in the world.

This newly created role owns the full test engineering lifecycle, from defining test cases to building test tools and executing tests for electro-mechanical products. You'll also line manage the Test Engineering team.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and line manage the Test Engineering team, including workload and third-party coordination
  • Derive test requirements from systems/sub-system specifications
  • Plan and design test cases across electro-mechanical systems (development and production phases)
  • Manage Test Reports and evidence for investigation conclusions
  • Design test jigs, harnesses and software, including automation
  • Manage internal test facilities (tanks, ovens, pools, lifting equipment) and liaise with external test labs (EMC, vibration, etc.)
  • Fault finding, failure analysis, and reporting

Essential

  • HNC/Degree in engineering, strong in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
  • People management experience (coaching, workload)
  • Working knowledge of Mechanical Engineering and embedded software principles
  • Strong LabVIEW/TestStand experience in a test & measurement environment
  • Scripting experience (Python, VB, C/C++)
  • 3+ years in test engineering or test equipment development
  • Expert in V&V processes, multi-disciplinary systems experience

Desirable

  • EEE degree, NI certified developer
  • DOORS/EA experience, subsea/offshore background
  • CE/DNV compliance knowledge, advanced Excel
