About the Role
The Data Analytics and Visualization team is looking to fill a Business Analyst position for the following project:
- 5 years of BA experience in IT projects.
- IT software/application project experience required.
System Review: The Business Analyst will be utilized to review and assess the existing data sources and data source systems within the agency and identify threats to data validity and reliability. The analyst will work with the Division of Community Services, the Division of Clinical and Quality Management, the Division of Administration, and stakeholders to identify and develop actionable recommendations that when implemented will result in improvement to data validity and reliability.
Thus, increasing the ability of the department to attest to the reliability of the data source and data source system and the validity and reliability of the data it produces. Current data exists in various data source systems and repositories. The client has several systems that are utilized by the department that an individual may not be familiar with, unless they’ve worked for the state, such as WAMS, CONNECT and other systems; therefore the selected candidate will have access to information regarding all data sources and data source systems to be assessed as well as previously developed threat assessment reports.
As part of the threat assessment process, the selected candidate will review data source training materials; conduct subject matter expert and stakeholder interviews; review system training materials; shadow data source users; conduct source system table analysis, review, synthesize and prioritize all threats; develop and present actionable recommendations to mitigate identified threats. Threats to data security will not be assessed as part of this process. Daily check-ins may be required during onboarding and training.
The ideal candidate will have strong analytical, interpersonal, and project management skills. The candidate must be able to build relationships with management, program personnel, and the IT department and must be able to explain complex issues in a way that they all understand. They will need experience with MS Excel spreadsheets, Power Query and data warehouse capabilities; experience in analyzing system problems, designing and testing standards and solutions, evaluating procedures and processes; experience working with structured and unstructured data.
Qualifications
- Minimum educational requirements: A master’s degree in business administration, with a concentration in information technology or a bachelor’s degree in computer and information technology or related field and 5 years of experience in a related field.
