We are seeking a Change Project Manager with proven delivery experience across both IT and business change. This is not a coordination role - it is a delivery role for someone who can bring structure to ambiguity, influence senior stakeholders, and drive outcomes despite competing priorities and challenging resource environments. You will lead complex change initiatives spanning IT infrastructure, business operations and process transformation, ensuring clarity of scope, accountability and measurable outcomes from the outset.
The team provides high-quality, fit-for-purpose technology and continually evolves our systems and capabilities to enable business growth. This role sits within a specialist team responsible for delivering high-stakes IT and business change projects across a dynamic and ambitious legal business. As a developing function, you will influence how we shape our delivery model and raise the bar on how change lands across the firm. We offer a flexible, blended working model across our hubs in Birmingham, Leicester, London, Milton Keynes, Nottingham, Solihull, Stratford-upon-Avon and Sheffield. This role combines homeworking with occasional travel to our office locations based on delivery and stakeholder needs.
What you will be doing:
- Project Delivery & Ownership: Lead the delivery of complex IT and business change projects, taking full ownership for driving progress, decision-making and delivery outcomes — not simply facilitating activity. Establish clear scope boundaries early, holding stakeholders accountable to agreed objectives, timelines and success measures. Navigate ambiguity by actively shaping delivery approaches where detail is unclear, proactively removing blockers and driving decisions to maintain momentum. Deliver projects to agreed timelines and budgets, escalating assertively when risks or resource constraints threaten delivery.
- Stakeholder Influence & Governance: Influence, challenge and guide senior stakeholders, ensuring commitments are met and decisions are made with pace and accountability. Run robust governance, ensuring deviations, risks and impacts are surfaced early with clear, evidence-based recommendations. Act as the authoritative point of coordination between technical teams, business leads, operations and external partners. Operate effectively in constrained or competing resource environments, securing support through influence, prioritisation and escalation when necessary. Anticipate risks, dependencies and inter-team impacts early, addressing them decisively to protect timelines and scope. Maintain rigorous financial oversight, ensuring forecasts, budgets and benefits remain aligned and transparent.
- Business Engagement & Change: Facilitate focused design and requirements sessions across IT and business teams, driving clarity on outcomes. Ensure capability, process and behavioural changes are fully understood, owned and embedded by business stakeholders. Lead structured transitions into BAU, ensuring smooth operational adoption. Drive lessons-learned activity with a focus on actionable improvements.
What you will need:
- Minimum 5+ years delivering both IT and business change projects in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
- Demonstrable experience delivering under pressure, across ambiguous scopes, and within constrained resource environments.
- Proven ability to challenge, influence and hold senior stakeholders to account.
- Strong track record of delivering technical solutions and business change outcomes on time and within budget.
- Advanced communication skills.
- Strong risk, dependency and financial management capability.
- Expertise in Microsoft Project, Monday.com, Excel and willingness to learn other project management tools where necessary.
- Experience in legal, professional services or similarly complex environments.
- Knowledge of quality standards, compliance requirements and structured delivery methodologies.
Key competencies you will need:
- High resilience and confidence in ambiguous environments.
- Ability to quickly establish structure, clarity and accountability.
- Strong influencing, negotiation and conflict-resolution skills.
- Excellent organisational discipline.
- Sharp analytical thinking.
- Self-driven, proactive and comfortable working autonomously.
- Willingness to travel between hubs as required.
