Reporting To: Tom Macklen

Description

Marrons is growing and we’re looking for an ambitious Principal or Associate Architect to help lead and deliver thoughtful, contextual architecture from one of our regional hubs: London , Bristol , or Birmingham .

This is a senior role within a national design team that works closely with in-house planning, heritage and urban design colleagues. Whether your strength lies in design, delivery, or development strategy, we’re looking for someone ready to lead, inspire, and help shape our next chapter.

We work across a range of projects from residential-led regeneration and strategic urban extensions, to infill, retrofit, and bespoke heritage schemes for private developers. Every project is context-driven and commercially grounded. We’re looking for someone who brings creative thinking and technical rigour to the table.

You will:

  • Lead architectural projects from concept through to delivery (full RIBA Stages), tailored to your expertise and regional focus
  • Act as a key point of contact for clients, consultants, and stakeholders, building strong and lasting relationships
  • Oversee internal teams and coordinate external collaborators to ensure quality, consistency, and timely delivery
  • Support business development and pipeline by nurturing client relationships (new and existing), networking, preparing proposals, and facilitating new opportunities
  • Champion good design and help shape the culture and ambition of our growing architecture team
  • Grow into a leadership role — with the opportunity to shape team culture, support junior colleagues, and take on more responsibility over time

What we’re looking for:

  • A natural team player with an ambition to grow into a leadership role as someone who’s ready to take ownership and develop long-term client relationships with the support of the wider leadership team
  • RIBA Part III qualified or international equivalent; ARB registration preferred
  • 5+ years’ post-registration experience within a respected design consultancy
  • Proven experience across all RIBA stages , with design leadership and technical delivery capability
  • Strong project experience in sectors such as residential, mixed-use, commercial, regeneration , or education
  • A proactive, collaborative approach to design and project management
  • Solid knowledge and application of UK building regulations and planning frameworks .
  • Excellent communication, presentation and leadership skills
  • High-level proficiency in Revit is essential; experience with Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD and visualisation tools beneficial
  • Significant experience in the Principal Designer role, with a sound understanding of health and safety legislation
