We currently have a new and exciting opportunity for a Restructuring and Insolvency Associate/Senior Associate to join our growing team. The Restructuring and Insolvency team has a long-standing experience of working with an enviable selection of insolvency practitioners, lenders and corporates. We are regularly instructed by the “big 4” accountants as well as the mid-tier and boutique firms. Our specialist national team combine all round expertise with a sound understanding of the commercial landscape to provide exceptional solutions for every aspect of our clients’ requirements. The team is recognised in both Chambers and Legal 500.

We provide advice on all aspects of transactional/advisory insolvency work to insolvency practitioners and lenders together with a wide-ranging contentious offering.

What you will be doing:

  • Working alongside a highly experienced Partner and a team of senior lawyers nationally, you will provide assistance on a broad range of recovery matters and insolvency.
  • You will act for insolvency practitioners, lenders and directors to provide fast, pragmatic and commercial advice.
  • You’ll be working closely with businesses, directors and individuals facing financial difficulties and running cases efficiently and cost-effectively within strict service level agreements.

What you will need:

  • Experience dealing with both contentious and non-contentious insolvency matters.
  • Drafting skills including preparation of both Insolvency Act Applications and Part 7 claims, general court applications, letters of advice to clients, statements and briefs to counsel.
  • Confidence in finding practical and innovative solutions to a range of problems.
  • An understanding of business development and having a desire to get involved and support business development.

Previous non-contentious experience including:

  • Exposure to (and preferably) advising on business sales out of distressed situations.
  • Exposure to (and preferably) providing general advice to lenders and insolvency practitioners in the full range of insolvency situations.
  • Drafting and presenting reviews on various types of security instruments and structures.

Previous contentious experience including:

  • Advising on antecedent transactions and directors conduct including drafting and issuing various court applications and working with counsel.
  • Drafting other applications including those seeking to extend the administration period, approval of remuneration, block transfer orders and orders for sale and possession.
  • General bankruptcy petition and winding up petition work.
