We have a fantastic opportunity for a Group HSQ Manager to join our HSEQ team and be based at either our Stirling, Hooton, or Telford office.

Working closely with the Group Head of HSEQ, the Group HSQ Manager is responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, maintenance and enhancement of the Health, Safety, and Quality management systems which are compliant to recognised international standards.

The role will involve:

  • Working to implement, improve, and maintain the HSEQ Management Systems and in particular the safety standards across the Group.
  • Promoting good HSE practices throughout the Company by educating employees and supporting managers, whilst embedding a culture of pro‐active risk management and health and safety throughout.
  • Co‐ordinating and monitoring the effectiveness of the risk assessment management processes.
  • Providing, or where necessary sourcing, training for employees in relation to HSEQ.
  • Conducting internal HSEQ audits and participate in external audits.
  • Arranging for all accidents, incidents and near misses to be investigated, collate findings, and approve course of action for prevention of recurrence.
  • Developing and implementing contractor management procedures to ensure that contractors, suppliers, consultants and other visitors comply with relevant legislation and safety policies.
  • Managing and maintaining the COSHH database, ensuring COSHH statements are available on all hazardous materials and that effective risk assessments are in place to manage the handling and use of such substances.
  • Ensuring the implementation Emergency Response Plans and Fire and Evacuation Procedure and monitoring its effectiveness by undertaking fire evacuation drills.
  • Participating in creating, reviewing, and upgrading the quality standards, policies and procedures, keeping them up to date and ensuring highest standards are achieved.
  • Maintaining ISO 9001 accredited quality management system for ACES.
  • Ensuring compliance with industry standards including EN plus and Woodsure standard.
  • Educating and motivating employees in the importance of quality and drive continuous improvement activities, supporting people to improve their processes and contribute to a company‐wide positive quality culture.
  • Defining quality procedures in conjunction with operating roles.
  • Developing and monitoring quality key performance indicators, providing management with statistical analysis and taking remedial action where necessary.

What we are looking for:

  • Health & Safety Diploma (level 6) or occupational health and safety degree.
  • IOSH Certified Member (CertIOSH) as a minimum level.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, guide, and develop cross‐functional teams.
  • Excellent analytical skills to effectively analyse and interpret information, identifying & validating the key facts, including reviewing alternatives to determine advantages and associated risks.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written, to influence stakeholders and colleagues across the Group.
  • Ability to retrieve and interpret data and utilise this for effective strategic decision making.
  • Strong understanding of risk assessment and mitigation practices in high‐risk environments.
  • In‐depth knowledge of HSEQ laws, regulations, and standards, including ISO 45001, and ISO 9001.
  • Familiarity with best practices in health and safety culture and employee wellness.
  • Demonstrable experience within a similar HSEQ role, ideally within a multi‐site Company.
  • Experience maintaining a systematic and measurable approach to monitoring Health and Safety performance, including incident investigations, independent audits, and reporting to ensure continuous improvement and learning.
  • Proven experience in developing, implementing, and managing HSEQ policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Demonstrate experience in change management, including fostering a positive HSEQ culture within a diverse workforce, promoting HSEQ culture, and developing strategic plans for HSEQ activities.

  • Due to the nature of the role, frequent travel to all Group sites and office locations will be required.
