Role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Field Service Engineer to join our Servicing and Heat Supply Scotland team, based in the Central Belt, to undertake general maintenance, installation, commissioning and repair works on biomass heating systems, other heating plant and associated equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake planned maintenance works in a thorough manner, following service task schedules where available.
  • Undertake reactive maintenance/call outs and a swift and effective resolution of heating faults.
  • Promptly and comprehensively complete the appropriate planned and reactive maintenance reports in the required format and using the online system, providing sufficient feedback and information in a suitable format which can be presented to the client.
  • Take and log photographs to the report including before and after photos for planned services and photos identifying any issues relating to reactive maintenance visits.
  • Identify any parts which may require replacement and include as much detail as possible in the report to enable parts to be ordered.
  • Endeavour to contact client during the planned/reactive maintenance visit, update on works undertaken, engage client and provide helpful and friendly feedback.
  • Escalate any serious issues or Health and Safety/compliance concerns to the Service Manager.
  • Assist the Service Manager with any technical queries and support.
  • Undertake all tasks according to Health and Safety requirements and wear correct PPE.
  • Complete risk assessments and method statements for specific tasks as required.
  • Undertake installation, surveying and repair works as required.

What we are looking for

  • A mechanical/electrical/electronic background
  • An engineering qualification (C&G, HNC, NVQ or similar)
  • Full clean driving licence
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Good team worker
  • Understanding of health and safety procedures and statutory compliance
  • Proficient with paperwork and good IT skills; for completion of service reports, H&S reports, timesheets
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Flexible approach, with the willingness to undertake varied tasks and travel to different sites
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team

Additional information

  • Mainly situated in and around the Central Belt, travel throughout Scotland/UK may be required
  • Normal working hours are between 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, though the nature of the role will result in overtime work as and when required, and periods of on-call on a rota.
  • On-call will be required after an appropriate period (usually after 6 months)
  • Competitive salary to be discussed at interview
  • Hours of work: 40 hours per week plus overtime
  • Contract type: permanent
