We have an exciting opportunity for a fun, sociable Support Worker to join our team, supporting two young people in their own home. Please note we don’t offer sponsorship, and candidates must have a right to work in the UK.

Meet the person you’ll be supporting – Profile 1

I am a fun, sociable young lady in my 20s. Likes – I like to feel involved and included in my care, I like my staff to be fun, kind and sociable, I thrive on a cheerful environment, but do enjoy calm time too. Dislikes – I sometimes feel ignored if people are chatting in the room and become anxious/upset, some gentle contact/reassurance helps me out. I like to be given plenty of time to process and get ready when there is a change of action or activity. Challenges – I have cerebral palsy and severe learning/communication difficulties which means I can become anxious and bite my hand. Aspirations – I aspire to be as independent as I can be, I want to be able to move around freely in my own home, continue visiting day centres and community visits, I have really good friends and family connections and I would like to learn new skills in the home, such as helping with the laundry or assisting when we are cooking meals. Activities – I love music, dancing, water play, swimming, and being out in the community, I do also enjoy people watching. People I get along with – People who are kind and fun are important to me, I want a warm welcome and lots of smiles to feel safe and cared for.

Meet the person you’ll be supporting – Profile 2

I am a 17 year old young woman. Likes – Meaningful sensory experiences are important to my happiness and wellbeing. I enjoy activities that help me relax and feel content, such as bubble baths, swimming, hydrotherapy, sensory play, listening to music, and spending time outdoors in the sunshine. I particularly enjoy music, especially Taylor Swift and musical soundtracks, and I respond positively to calming sounds and familiar voices. Challenges – I have diagnoses of Neuronal Migration Defect and congenital CMV infection, epilepsy (currently well managed), increased muscle tone affecting all four limbs, and I am PEG‑fed. I am a full‑time wheelchair user and require support with all aspects of my daily care and mobility. Aspirations – My life goals are centred around living a safe, comfortable, and fulfilling life where my health needs are consistently met and I am supported to experience enjoyment, connection, and emotional wellbeing. People I get along with – I value positive social interaction and one‑to‑one attention from people who engage with me, talk to me, and include me in activities, even though I am non‑verbal. Being spoken to, reassured, and involved helps me feel valued and understood. I express enjoyment through facial expressions and vocalisations, and it is important that these are recognised and responded to.

Team Overview

Staff support us on a 2:2 basis. Shift patterns – Our team support us 8 am - 8 pm days and 8 pm - 8 am waking nights. Training – Our team go through a comprehensive training and induction process, bespoke to us.

Responsibilities

  • Provide person‑centred care tailored to individual needs.
  • Assist with daily living activities, promoting independence and dignity.
  • Offer emotional support and companionship.
  • Support community access — including social outings and events.
  • Monitor wellbeing and accurately record care provided.
  • Work collaboratively with nurses, families, and the wider care team.
