Amnis Education are proud to be recruiting on behalf of a specialist residential care provider supporting children and young people aged 11-17 who have experienced trauma, neglect, abuse, and emotional and behavioural difficulties. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and compassionate Deputy Manager to join a therapeutic residential setting focused on creating safe, nurturing, and structured environments where young people can thrive.
The Role
As Deputy Manager, you will support the Registered Home Manager in the day-to-day running of the home, ensuring high standards of care, safeguarding, leadership, and compliance are maintained at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Home Manager in the daily running of the home and deputise in their absence
- Lead, supervise, and motivate the residential care team
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people
- Support the implementation of care plans and therapeutic approaches
- Undertake direct work with young people and act as a positive role model
- Lead shifts, manage staffing levels, and ensure effective handovers
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and compliance documentation
- Provide staff supervision, mentoring, induction, and performance support
- Work collaboratively with education, clinical, and external professionals
- Ensure compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards
- Support budget management, resources, and the overall home environment
- Promote positive outcomes, routines, and a nurturing culture within the home
Requirements
Essential:
- NVQ Level 3 / Diploma Level 3 in Children & Young People Workforce (or equivalent)
- Minimum 12 months experience within residential childcare settings
- Previous senior or supervisory experience supporting young people with challenging behaviour
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, legislation, and Quality Standards
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills
- Flexible approach to shifts including evenings, weekends, waking nights, and sleep-ins
Desirable:
- Level 4 or Level 5 qualification in Leadership & Management
- Therapeutic parenting, counselling, or behavioural support experience
- Full UK Driving Licence
