AMMF is the UK’s only charity dedicated solely to bile duct cancer. We are seeking a trustee to play a strategic leadership role on the board of this small, respected and fast-growing medical charity, working across the UK and Europe with patients, clinicians, researchers, and policymakers.

As an AMMF trustee you will be helping us to refine and implement our growth strategy. You will:

  • Make a real difference to people impacted by a rare cancer with limited awareness and funding
  • Contribute your skills at board level to a respected medical charity
  • Be part of a committed, expert and purpose-driven team
  • Gain or deepen experience in charity governance, strategy and healthcare impact
  • Interact with other advocacy groups across Europe

What are we looking for?

AMMF welcomes applications from people with a strong interest in healthcare, charity governance and social impact. We are particularly keen to hear from candidates with at least three years experience in any of the following:

  • Lived Experience: Personal or family experience of bile duct cancer (Cholangiocarcinoma).
  • Communications to decide strategic priorities; drive the annual business planning and target-setting process.
  • To maintain proper fiscal oversight and ensure financial accountability.
  • To oversee capital expenditure and ensure that the charity is getting best value for money.
  • To ensure that AMMF measures its impact and progress towards its strategic objectives and to regularly consider reports on AMMF’s performance and risk management.
  • To support the CEO in the selection of research grant awards, engagement with the Scientific Advisory Board and subsequent liaison with grant holders.
  • Act as ambassadors for the charity and its cause.

You do not need to be an expert in everything — curiosity, sound judgement, integrity and commitment to the mission are what matter most.
