Our client is a prominent, innovation-driven biotechnology company near Shanghai, China, integrating research, process development, and manufacturing. The teams collaborate across disciplines to turn cutting-edge synthetic biology and fermentation research into reliable, production-grade solutions with real-world impact.
This role starts in May 2026 with a remote-first setup. The first three months will be remote to align objectives, workflows, and milestones. After that, any on-site collaboration in China may be arranged by mutual agreement based on project needs - for example, lab validation, pilot runs, or scale-up activities. Compensation is competitive, with additional allowances for any agreed on-site participation.
Key Responsibilities- Spearhead initiatives in vector construction and strain expression development, ensuring high standards and innovative approaches.
- Gather and systematically organize data, collaborating with process partners to analyze issues and propose enhancement strategies.
- Oversee high-throughput screening of genetically engineered strains for fermentation processes, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
- Participate in the creation of departmental research plans, experimental reports, SOP documents, patents, and technical papers.
- Engage in daily operational management tasks, including maintenance and upkeep of equipment and instruments.
- Ideally holding a Ph.D. in Bioengineering, Microbiology, Fermentation/Biochemical Engineering (or related field), or equivalent industry research experience.
- Ideally 3+ years in fermentation process and extraction techniques and/or vector construction/molecular biology.
- Experience with strain engineering and high-throughput screening, with familiarity in bioreactor operations and structured experimentation.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and communicate clearly across scientific disciplines; strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.
- Familiarity with modern lab equipment and digital tools relevant to synthetic biology and fermentation; English is the working language; additional languages are a plus.
