Advanced Manufacturing (Sheffield) Limited (AML) is an advanced machining supplier focused on gas turbine components supporting the aerospace, power generation and defence industries. We are at the leading edge of machining technologies and are dedicated to delivering efficiency and reduced cycle times for our clients. Our advanced milling, turning and 5-axis capacity enables us to machine a wide range of products including bespoke ring, casing, gearbox, aerofoil and aerostructure components. To date, we have manufactured components for Rolls-Royce, Boeing, Siemens, Bombardier and are looking to expand our machining capabilities over the coming year.

The Position

  • Plan new projects from order onboarding to project completion or into production.
  • Understand all the technical steps necessary to be able to complete a project.
  • Discuss with AML technical team and the customer to ensure that the process is understood.
  • Drive the actions across the business to ensure project delivery.
  • Drive continuous improvement activities with the technical teams to support programme cost and quality.
  • Sourcing new suppliers and processes in line with programme requirements.
  • Support the supply chain team in establishing supply chain operations and commercial agreements.
  • Budget management of projects and programmes in the business.
  • Challenge the business to implement more cost-effective processes without compromising on project delivery or quality.
  • Periodic reporting on project and programme progress.
  • Reporting to both senior management and the wider business.
  • Present project kick-off meetings to the wider business.
  • Contract review of new orders to ensure that the project's scope is agreed.
  • Be the key contact for all customer communications.
  • Manage the customer relationship to promote future opportunities.
  • Identify and elevate any further commercial opportunities within the current customer base.
  • Presenting customers and senior management with project plans.
  • Assessing resource availability within the business to ensure project and programme deliveries can be met.
  • Managing the cross-functional teams to ensure project delivery is on time.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to the production team.
  • Drive the technical teams within AML to ensure project delivery.
  • Support the production team with any project or programme related enquiries.
  • Coaching and mentoring within the project team.
  • Comply with all applicable health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, and legal obligations, including those relevant to CNC machining and high-reliability manufacturing.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment, reporting any hazards, incidents, near-misses, or unsafe behaviours promptly and accurately.
  • Use and maintain Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriately, ensuring correct use in line with task and risk requirements.
  • Participate in mandatory EHS training, emergency response drills, and company health and wellbeing initiatives.
  • Support a culture of continuous improvement in safety and sustainability, including contributing ideas for reducing risk, waste, and environmental impact.
  • Demonstrate environmental awareness by following procedures for responsible use of materials, recycling, and energy conservation.

The Person

  • Highly motivated individual.
  • Experience working within engineering project management.
  • Knowledge of critical part management is desirable.
  • Strong commercial acumen and experience talking with customers.
  • Ability to manage all aspects of project delivery across all functional teams within the business.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Degree/Apprenticeship in engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience within an engineering environment.
  • Ability to manage own time and workload effectively.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
