AMLR is partnering with a reputable engineering company to recruit a skilled, reliable Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team. The company is renowned for their unrivalled engineering standards and the highest quality materials, ensuring their products offer an unmatched combination of strength, durability, and operational ease, with over 40 years experience.

The Role of Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to process special designs and manage quality of projects; liaising closely with Production, Procurement and Sales. The successful candidate will be able to come up with great ideas to improve product ranges and project successes, reporting directly to the Engineering Design Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure quality control of unique specialist mobile equipment designs from conception through to delivery. These will include bespoke rigid vehicles and trailers.
- Adopt and enhance designs following the company's established design principles.
- Responsible for individual customer orders throughout the design process in all areas: Structure, Pneumatics, Hydraulics and Electrics.
- Ability to work on short tight deadlines and be capable of driving projects forward; attending meetings with the Engineering Design Manager and other Engineers in the team.
- A good working knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety policies, Risk Assessments and Statutory Regulations.
- Perform any other reasonable duties in line with business needs.
Essential Experience & Qualifications
- Mechanically qualified to degree level and most likely be from a strong 3D modelling background – Solidworks preferred. Some 2D Drafting required.
- A minimum of 6 years' design experience within heavy industry, ideally (but not essential) related to automotive, commercial vehicle, materials handling, trailers crushing or screening etc.
- Knowledge of design hydraulic / pneumatic and electrical concerns.
- Highly motivated as an engineer with good people skills and a passion for innovation.
- Ability to work within a small, dedicated team.
Desirable Experience
- Experience in trailer or commercial vehicle assembly.
