Job Description

  • Hours of work: day shift Monday - Thursday 07:00-16:00 / Friday 7:30-12:30
  • Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

AMLR are looking for an experienced Sheet Metal Fabricator looking to join a leading aerospace manufacturer?

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a precision engineering environment, manufacturing high-quality aerospace components using a variety of fabrication techniques and specialist machinery.

Key Responsibilities for the Sheet Metal Fabricator

  • Extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes, ideally within the aerospace or automotive industry.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and aerospace specifications, working independently to produce high-quality components.
  • Operate a range of fabrication machinery including brake press, Promecam, rubber press, guillotine and band saws.
  • Set up and operate fabrication equipment to cut, bend and shape metal components.
  • Measure, mark out and prepare materials using rulers, squares, scribes, dividers and other measuring equipment.
  • Inspect parts, assemblies and completed components to ensure they meet engineering drawings and quality specifications.
  • Carry out general sheet metal duties including deburring, drilling, fly press operations and calculating bend allowances.
  • Manufacture components primarily from aluminium, with occasional work using mild steel and stainless steel.
  • Perform stretch forming, shrinking, flattening and shaping operations using hand tools and specialist equipment.
  • Apply problem-solving skills to resolve manufacturing issues and improve production efficiency.
  • Follow lean manufacturing principles and modern fabrication techniques.
  • Maintain high standards of health and safety and adhere to all standard operating procedures.

Requirements for the Sheet Metal Fabricator

  • Previous experience within precision engineering or sheet metal fabrication.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Experience operating brake presses, rubber presses, guillotines, band saws and other fabrication machinery.
  • Competent using hand tools and fabrication equipment.
  • Experience working with aluminium, mild steel and stainless steel.
  • Knowledge of fabrication techniques including deburring, drilling, bend allowances, stretch forming and shrinking.
  • Understanding of ISO 9001 quality standards.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of health and safety.
