We are recruiting an experienced Site Manager to join a specialist Special Risk fire protection team, managing the delivery of technically demanding fire detection and suppression projects across the UK. The position will initially focus on projects throughout the Midlands, with future work across various UK sites. It would suit an experienced Fire Alarm Site Manager, Fire Detection Supervisor, Fire Systems Supervisor or electrically biased Site Manager who has worked on large-scale construction, industrial or technically complex projects.
You will take responsibility for the day-to-day management of site activities, ensuring installations are completed safely, correctly and in accordance with programme requirements, approved drawings, risk assessments and method statements.
The Role
- Managing the day-to-day installation, testing and commissioning of fire detection, mechanical fire protection and gas suppression systems
- Managing and supervising specialist installation subcontractors
- Carrying out regular site inspections
- Ensuring works comply with approved drawings, RAMS and construction programmes
- Putting operatives and subcontractors to work safely
- Monitoring site progress, quality and housekeeping
- Managing permits and ensuring safe systems of work are followed
- Delivering regular toolbox talks
- Attending client progress, planning and health & safety meetings
- Liaising closely with Project Managers, engineers and the wider Special Risk project team
- Carrying out installation snagging inspections
- Producing and completing snagging documentation
- Completing safety checks on site equipment and associated records
- Supporting testing, commissioning and project handover
- Working remotely from project sites throughout the UK
What We're Looking For
You should have a minimum of 5 years' experience working within the management or supervision of fire alarm, fire detection or other electrically based installation projects. You will ideally have experience within the industrial, major construction, data centre, infrastructure or special risk sectors.
Essential experience includes:
- Strong experience with fire alarm and fire detection systems
- Site management or site supervision experience
- Good understanding of electrical installation practices
- Experience of testing and commissioning fire detection systems
- Understanding of cause and effect testing
- Good working knowledge of BS 5839
- Strong understanding of construction health & safety
- SMSTS qualification
- Good IT skills including Microsoft Office and Outlook
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to travel throughout the UK and stay away from home when required
The Person
We are looking for someone who can confidently manage both their own workload and the activities of site teams and subcontractors. You should be comfortable dealing directly with clients, contractors and project teams and have the ability to maintain high standards of quality, health & safety and programme delivery on technically demanding projects.
