About the Project
We are working with a leading main contractor renowned for delivering complex, high-quality commercial projects across London. They are now seeking an experienced Senior Site Manager to join their team on a freelance basis for a major 60m office refurbishment project in Central London. The scheme involves a full strip-out, extensive structural alterations, façade works, and a high-spec CAT A and CAT B fit-out, transforming a dated office building into a contemporary, premium-grade workspace. This is a technically demanding project requiring an experienced professional with strong leadership and organisational skills. Reporting directly to the Project Director, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of this prestigious scheme.
The Role
As Senior Site Manager, you will oversee all on-site construction activities, managing subcontractors, coordinating logistics, and ensuring work progresses in line with the programme, quality, and safety standards. You’ll work closely with the Project Director and other senior team members, contributing to planning, sequencing, and problem-solving on a challenging live-site environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate day-to-day site operations on a complex 60m office refurbishment.
- Manage subcontractors and site teams, ensuring all works are completed safely, on time, and to the required standard.
- Work alongside the Project Director to develop short-term programmes and drive progress on site.
- Oversee logistics, sequencing, and access arrangements in a constrained Central London environment.
- Ensure compliance with H&S regulations, company procedures, and best practice.
- Conduct quality inspections, progress reports, and site audits.
- Liaise effectively with clients, consultants, and design teams.
- Provide buildability feedback and support the coordination of M&E and finishes packages.
The Ideal Candidate
- Proven experience as a Senior Site Manager on large-scale commercial refurbishment projects in London.
- Strong background in structural alterations, complex refurbishments, and CAT A / CAT B fit-outs.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and coordination skills.
- Ability to manage multiple subcontractors and drive programme performance.
- Experience delivering projects valued at 30m+, ideally with a Tier 1 or leading mid-tier main contractor.
- Current SMSTS, CSCS (Black/Gold Card), and First Aid certifications are essential.
- Available to start within the next few weeks and able to commit to a 12-month contract.
