Senior Backend Engineer (Go)

As part of a major platform transformation, the engineering team is rebuilding critical systems from the ground up, embracing AI-native development practices and migrating services to Go. The focus is on creating highly scalable distributed systems while driving platform performance towards sub-50ms latency.
The Opportunity
As a Senior Backend Engineer, you'll play a key role in shaping the next generation of the platform by:
- Building and scaling high-performance backend services in Go
- Designing and delivering distributed systems capable of handling significant scale and throughput
- Driving performance optimisation and low-latency architecture initiatives
- Contributing to the modernisation and rewrite of core platform services
- Collaborating closely with platform, infrastructure, and product engineering teams
- Influencing engineering best practices, technical standards, and architectural direction
What We're Looking For
- Strong commercial experience developing backend systems ideally with Go (Would consider Java or Python)
- 5+ years' experience building scalable, distributed applications
- Deep understanding of concurrency, systems design, and performance optimisation
- Experience working on low-latency and/or high-throughput platforms
- Comfortable operating in fast-moving, high-growth environments
- Interest in AI-assisted development and modern engineering practices
