A leading accountancy firm is seeking a Personal Tax Senior Associate to join their established Private Client Tax team in Belfast. In this role, you will play a key part in delivering personal tax compliance services, supporting clients with their tax obligations, and handling compliance for a varied private client portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare private client and personal tax returns (including employment income, investments, and rental adjustments) for review with minimal adjustments.
  • Assist in drafting final tax computations and handling electronic submissions to HMRC.
  • Communicate professionally with clients to gather required financial documentation and resolve routine queries.
  • Liaise directly with HMRC via phone to trace payments, process repayments, and address basic technical queries.
  • Support technical research regarding core tax compliance areas, including capital allowances and expense deductibility.
  • Manage job budgets, monitor chargeable time, and identify opportunities for workflow improvements.

Key Requirements & Skills

  • Experience: Proven experience working within a tax or accountancy practice environment.
  • Qualifications: Currently studying toward, or fully qualified in, professional accounting/tax credentials (e.g., ATT, CTA, ACA, ACCA, CA), or equivalent qualified-by-experience (QBE).
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience using tax and practice management software alongside the MS Office suite.
  • Knowledge: Sound understanding of UK personal tax regulations, tax codes, rates, and allowable expenses.
  • Soft Skills: Strong professional communication skills, excellent attention to detail, and a focus on delivering high-quality client service.
