We are looking for a Chef to join our catering team, supporting the Head Chef to deliver well-balanced meals that meet residents' dietary, cultural and medical needs.
This is a rewarding opportunity to help create a safe, caring and dignified dining experience, while maintaining high standards of hygiene, quality and presentation in line with Amica Care's values and policies.
Key Responsibilities
As Chef, you will help create a positive dining experience for our residents by preparing nutritious, appetising meals that are tailored to individual needs.
- Working closely with the Head Chef and wider team, your key responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and cooking meals in line with agreed menus, residents' preferences and dietary requirements.
- Supporting menu planning, seasonal events and special occasions.
- Ensuring meals are well presented, served on time and delivered with dignity and respect.
- Working collaboratively with kitchen, care and nursing colleagues to support residents' wellbeing.
- Maintaining high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, safety and infection prevention.
- Following HACCP, COSHH, allergen management and food safety procedures.
- Completing food safety records accurately, including temperature checks and cleaning schedules.
- Supporting stock control, safe storage, stock rotation and correct use of kitchen equipment.
- Supporting Kitchen Assistants where needed and contributing to the smooth running of the kitchen.
- Following Amica Care policies, procedures and values at all times.
About You
We are looking for someone who takes pride in preparing high-quality food and creating enjoyable, dignified mealtimes for residents.
You will be organised, reliable and able to work well as part of a busy kitchen team.
- A catering qualification, such as City & Guilds or NVQ Level 2 or above.
- A Level 2 Food Safety or Food Hygiene Certificate, with Level 3 desirable.
- Previous experience as a Chef or Cook, ideally preparing meals for multiple people.
- A good understanding of nutrition, special diets, allergens and food safety requirements.
- Experience in a care, healthcare or regulated setting would be beneficial.
- Strong teamwork, organisation, communication and time-management skills.
- A calm, flexible and resident-focused approach, with a commitment to delivering great food and service.
