As part of Amgueddfa Cymru\’s Technical Services department and primarily based at our National Waterfront Museum you\’ll provide audio-visual & lighting technical services for our galleries, exhibitions and displays across Amgueddfa Cymru\’s family of museums.
- Working closely with our Exhibitions department you will support the technical delivery of world class, high quality and professionally delivered exhibitions and displays across Amgueddfa Cymru.
- Providing a range of technical solutions to support the presentation and interpretation of our collections.
- Support the successful adoption of new technologies within museums for Amgueddfa Cymru.
Key Responsibilities
- Reporting to the Senior Technical Officer and primarily providing technical support at two of our museums – National Waterfront Museum and National Wool Museum. You\’ll also be required to travel across Amgueddfa Cymru\’s family of museums as and when required.
- Carry out routine maintenance and manage a log of all audio visual, lighting and gallery equipment used for Exhibitions and displays.
- Manage and operate the audio-visual and lighting control systems in the museum venues, galleries and including public spaces.
- Monitor and respond to technical faults and issues as and when reported via Amgueddfa Cymru\’s helpdesk software: Service Now
- Support the design, installation, operation and take down of lighting, audio-visual equipment and setworks used for exhibitions and displays in our galleries.
- Contribute to the planning of exhibitions and displays by providing technical expertise and design suggestions.
- Support the production of new digital content for exhibitions and displays.
- Supervise external contractors and freelancers and technical placement opportunities working with you on installation and maintenance projects.
- Help build and maintain gallery and exhibition setworks.
- Support the installation of our collections and art works as and when required for new temporary exhibitions.
- Support the Senior Technical Officer with the specification and procurement of technical equipment for equipping our Galleries, and Venues.
- Maintain safe working practices and abide by current H&S regulations and best practice. Produce and review risks assessments and method statements for installation and maintenance task
- Maintain and organise the technical equipment stores at National Waterfront Museum and National Wool Museum.
- Attend specialist conferences and meetings and represent Amgueddfa Cymru as and when required to further enhance professional development and build on technical knowledge both personally and within the team.
- Provide technical support for our events & commercial hire activities as and when required.
- Support the wider Technical Services and Digital teams as and when required.
