Help shape the future of Amgueddfa Cymru! This is a rare opportunity to work at the heart of the Chief Executive Office—turning strategy into action, keeping our biggest priorities on track, and ensuring the Chief Executive is supported, visible and impactful across our family of museums.
The purpose of the role is to work directly to the Chief Executive to support them with the Senior Executive Team in delivering the priorities of the business plan and the impact framework for Amgueddfa Cymru. The postholder will focus on areas that will make the biggest contribution to delivery, monitoring them constantly and, with their keen eye for detail, flagging to the Chief Executive any emerging issues that need prompt attention.
While the Chief Executive fulfils a largely external-facing role, the Senior Executive Team with support from the postholder will ensure that the Chief Executive remains connected and visible where most needed within the Amgueddfa Cymru family of museums. They will support the Chief Executive to focus time on purposeful stakeholder engagement, working with the Head of External Relations, Comms & Funding to provide effective internal and external communication and impactful leadership.
Working Arrangements: Whilst this role requires office working there may be the opportunity for hybrid working. The postholder will also be expected to travel to all sites within Wales but will be based at National Museum Cardiff.
Main Purpose of Role: The postholder will be key to support the Chief Executive to structure their time effectively, finding the right balance between internal visibility and external stakeholder engagement and development. They will also work with the Chief Executive and Senior Executive Team to ensure that Amgueddfa Cymru is appropriately represented at key stakeholder events. They will work alongside Heads of Department to provide the fulcrum point for collating and analysing information and performance data across the organisation’s many internal and external functions for the Chief Executive’s and Senior Executive Team’s insight and prioritisation. They will be responsible for ensuring the strategic priorities are adequately reflected in the operational plan, keeping track of key strategic initiatives as part of the Chief Executive’s priorities. Above all they will be deeply committed to the Museum’s core purpose of ‘providing learning and enjoyment for everyone through the national collections of Wales’. The role requires extensive working with other departments to ensure information is able to be reported succinctly to the Chief Executive and priorities set accordingly.
