Base pay range

Vacancy Type – Fixed Term/Full Time

Salary Range – £28,895.78 to £35,598.34

Duration – 2 years

Context

There are 11 members of the finance team. This is a new post introduced to help with increasing volumes of work and new processes and procedures.

Main Purpose of job

Support the Finance Business Partners with financial reporting

Liaise with Cost centre managers to monitor budgets

Balance sheet reconciliations

Training and supporting Cost Centre managers on processes and procedures

Key Responsibilities

• Reconciling and allocating income received into bank accounts, using completed paperwork from departments including banking of income received into the Finance department.
• Assisting in ensuring the effective operation and maintenance of computerised and manual accounting systems including the internal control systems and records.
• Liaising with specified cost centre managers to produce and monitor budgets
• Accounting for reserves and reconciling the related balance sheet accounts
• Monitoring and training staff on financial policy and procedures
• Assisting Finance Business Partners in redeeming Grants
• Raising journal entries to finalise the annual accounting records, and ensure reconciliation with accounting system.
• Contributing to AC-NMW projects, both the development and implementation
• Supporting the Head of Finance and Finance Business Partners in the development of systems and procedures, and the implementation of audit requirements and to liaise with other managers and administrative staff to ensure compliance with such procedures and requirements, providing guidance as necessary
• Supporting Finance Business Partners on a day-to-day basis

Person Specification

Job specific

Good understanding and experience of finance, double entry bookkeeping and in raising journals and reconciling balance sheet accounts

Experience of using computer based financial accounting systems

Ability to operate in a multi-disciplinary organisation and in an environment of change

Ability to assemble data from various sources and draft reports or procedures

High levels of numeracy and accuracy

Core Skills

Excellent spoken and written communication skills

Experience of explaining financial information to non-finance colleagues or other stakeholders

Good organisational skills and ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines

Experience of working in Welsh public sector or a not-for-profit organisation

Knowledge of tax legislation such as IR35
