The Corporate Affairs Manager at Amgen supports the development and execution of corporate affairs strategies. This role focuses on managing the company’s reputation and its relationships with key stakeholders, including employees, media, government, and the public. The manager serves as the primary point of contact for external inquiries related to corporate affairs.
What you will do
- Co‑lead the communications strategy for Amgen’s UK & Ireland commercial affiliate and UK‑based global R&D organization.
- Develop and execute external activities to enhance and protect Amgen’s reputation, amplify the corporate narrative across multichannel platforms, oversee the staff engagement program CONNECT, and manage overall internal communications.
- Identify external opportunities to strengthen Amgen’s reputation within the UK healthcare ecosystem.
- Develop business‑relevant content and key messages for Amgen’s priority topics and translate them into a multichannel communications plan.
- Partner across commercial, corporate, and R&D functions to seize key media and digital amplification opportunities.
- Lead communications around major medical and R&D news in partnership with global teams.
- Support brand and policy teams with key PR and communications activities around data, regulatory milestones, and flagship initiatives.
- Develop and maintain a digital platform strategy that maximises enterprise‑wide usage while ensuring compliance with medical, legal, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage overall internal communications, including an editorial calendar and information flow across UK and Ireland sites.
- Drive the staff CONNECT engagement program across UK and Ireland sites, collaborating with corporate affairs associates and other teams.
- Liaise with external agencies and vendors as appropriate.
- Stay abreast of corporate affairs trends and propose innovative ways to use emerging platforms.
What we expect of you
- 8–10 years of experience in healthcare public relations and corporate communications, either agency or in‑house.
- Deep knowledge of the UK pharmaceutical/biotechnology communications environment and the ABPI Code.
- Strong relationships with key UK healthcare journalists across trade, medical, and consumer media.
- Expertise in strategic communications campaigns and multichannel content strategies, including digital and social media.
- Creative, strategic problem‑solving skills and the ability to translate technical information into engaging content.
- Experience working in a matrix, cross‑functional environment with leadership capability.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, storytelling flair, and attention to detail.
- Solid digital skills, including Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint) and familiarity with generative AI tools such as CoPilot and ChatGPT.
- Design capabilities using Adobe Creative Suite and video‑editing skills using platforms such as VIMEO.
- Degree in communications, journalism, public relations, business, or a science‑related field.
Location
