Elevation Recruitment Group are pleased to be partnered with AMG Chrome in their search for a Production Manager to oversee a specialist manufacturing process at their Rotherham site, controlling safety, quality, yield and efficiency. From their site in Rotherham, AMG have been manufacturing specialist metals for over 80 years and are a world-renowned supplier to the super-alloy, aerospace, steel, hard-facing, welding and aluminium industries.
As the site continues its growth, the incoming Production Manager will have the opportunity to control and drive the performance of the production team in the unit, identifying areas for improvement whilst delivering against customer needs. Health & Safety, Quality, Productivity, Efficiency, Yield and Output will be key topics of the Production Manager's focus, driving these from the shop floor as well as reporting on them in the managers' meetings. The manufacturing unit will continually develop to improve how it meets customer needs, and the Production Manager will have the authority to demonstrate their expertise and make changes where necessary.
Your impact:
- Control the process and performance of your manufacturing unit, working closely with manufacturing, engineering and support teams to deliver against the production plan.
- Train and develop your team to perform at their optimum.
- Uphold zero harm as a non-negotiable, advising on safe practices to ensure everyone leaves the manufacturing facility as they entered it.
- Ensure availability and capacity within the manufacturing unit to meet market and customer needs, having the right people, machinery and skills in the right place at the right time.
- Play a significant part in cost-down initiatives.
- Bring accuracy, thoroughness and a keen eye for detail to daily activities, making changes where needed to cut down time or material loss while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Drive internal and Health & Safety standards across the manufacturing unit, setting the standards and holding people accountable for safe practices; report back on key metrics in relation to these standards.
- Own the health, safety, wellbeing and environmental impact on both your direct reports and yourself, acting fast on any hazards.
What we're looking for:
- Experienced, capable, driven Production Leaders, preferably with heavy industry manufacturing experience (grinding, crushing and milling processes), who can talk in detail about their control of people, performance and standards in these settings, and the results they've delivered.
- Thorough knowledge of manufacturing, Health & Safety and environmental procedures, with a minimum of an IOSH qualification to back it up.
- Demonstrable experience as a visible, hands-on leader, showing you're comfortable on the shop floor and leading from the front, not just from behind a desk.
- Examples of strong IT skills and financial awareness, where you've utilised data and financial information to make decisions that impact manufacturing performance or process.
- Holding a degree related to Manufacturing, Engineering or a related technical discipline is desirable, but not essential.
The package:
AMG offer a substantial package that includes a generous pension scheme, flexible bank holidays with the ability to buy more, healthcare cover, free on-site parking, onsite gym, electric vehicle charging points and cycle to work scheme. This is a genuinely exciting time to join AMG Chrome, with the business continuing to grow in both the UK and US, supported by the development of its new Chrome metal plant. The Production Manager appointed to this role will play a key part in delivering for our customers, enhancing operational performance, and driving the continued success of the Rotherham site. This is an opportunity to make the role your own, shape the future of the unit, and take ownership of its long-term success.
Suited candidates will have previously held roles such as Production Manager, Operations Manager, Manufacturing Manager, Site Manager, Plant Manager, Works Manager, Factory Manager, Production Unit Manager or Business Unit Manager.
