Our client is a small and friendly, family-owned hydraulic engineering company based on the Euroway Estate just off the M606 in Bradford. Established in 1984, they work in partnership with five of the world's leading hydraulic manufacturers and have built a strong reputation for quality and reliability. They are looking for a Test Engineer to join and manage/supervise their experienced test team. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer or someone with a strong engineering background who wants to build and develop specialist hydraulic skills.

The Role

The ideal hydraulic test engineer will work within the test department, involved in a wide variety of testing and hydraulic work. You will be expected to work as part of a team, producing high-quality work to tight tolerances with a right-first-time and can-do attitude.

Key duties include:

  • Responsible for the safe and timely testing of pumps, motors, valves and transmissions; KPI: Test 3 - 4 Units per day.
  • Responsible for liaising with customers when required.
  • Responsible for enforcing health and safety in the test department and managing the test team.
  • Provide positive, cohesive leadership of the test team, identifying knowledge gaps and assisting in continual improvement.
  • Inform the workshop manager promptly of any issues that may negatively impact the job or business.
  • Liaise with workshop manager and commercial manager to formulate a test schedule/priority list.
  • Work proactively to ensure potential issues are caught early.
  • Ensure the test team have the correct and safe tools/equipment and that they are maintained properly.
  • Plan maintenance time for required works to avoid downtime.
  • Communicate positively and effectively with the build team, workshop office and management.
  • Responsible for the culmination of budgets for tooling or maintenance in the test department.
  • Ensure all test department certification and calibration records are kept up to date.
  • Maintain detailed checks and logs as per matrix timescales.
  • Ensure all documentation is correct and test procedures are recorded and filed appropriately.

What you will have to offer...

  • Several years experience in managing a test environment.
  • Qualifications in hydraulic pump, motor, valve and transmission test is desirable but not essential.
  • Competent in IT skills and usage of Microsoft programs.
  • Knowledge of relevant health and safety requirements when working in the workshop.
  • Familiar with the working functions of hydraulic systems/components.

Hours of Work

Monday to Thursday: 7:00am to 3:30pm; Friday: 6:00am to 2:30pm (can be flexible, but nice early finishes).
