Our client, a large engineering business based near Castleford, have an immediate requirement to recruit a well versed Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team.
Purpose of the Role: This role is key to the development and optimisation of engineered products, requiring a strong understanding of manufacturing processes and a hands-on approach to design, testing, and validation.
The Role will involve:
- Design and develop components and assemblies using robust engineering principles
- Work with manufacturing methods including injection moulding, casting, and machined components
- Specify and manage tolerances and material selections to ensure performance and manufacturability
- Conduct Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to validate and optimise designs
- Plan and carry out testing, analyse results, and drive continuous improvement
- Take full ownership of design projects from concept through to production
- Ensure work is delivered in line with project deadlines and business priorities
- Liaise with suppliers to support design development and manufacturing processes
- Maintain accurate documentation within company systems
Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of injection moulding, casting, and machining processes
- Good understanding of tolerancing (e.g. GD&T) and material specifications
- Experience with FEA tools and analysis
- Proven ability to conduct testing and interpret results
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Creo (3D CAD)
- Experience using Windchill (PLM system)
- Familiarity with D365 (Dynamics 365)
- Experience with Autodesk Fusion (Fusion 360)
This is a permanent role where you will be expected to work regular office hours (some flex). In return you can expect a salary up to £45k - £50k plus additional bonuses.
