- Job Overview
- Design, program, test and commission PLC and HMI control systems.
- Provide technical support for production, service engineers and customers, ensuring systems comply with current legislation, standards and company requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Program and configure IDEC PLCs and HMI systems
- Carry out point-to-point testing and full functional testing of control panels prior to dispatch.
- Diagnose and rectify electrical and control system faults during manufacture and testing.
- Update, modify and maintain electrical schematics using Auto CAD Electrical.
- Ensure all drawings and documentation are accurate and issued in accordance with company procedures.
- Provide technical telephone support to service and commissioning engineers on site.
- Assist with fault finding and troubleshooting of PLC, HMI and electrical control systems.
- Interpret electrical schematics, technical manuals and engineering drawings.
- Support continuous improvement of control systems, software and panel designs.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation using Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Assist with commissioning activities and product development where required.
- Your Skills
- Experience in programming PLC and HMI systems
- Knowledge of testing and commissioning electrical control panels
- Strong electrical and controls engineering knowledge
- Logical and methodical fault-finding skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
- Good communication skills for supporting engineers and customers.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to understand complex technical systems from drawings and manuals.
The successful Plc controls engineer will be rewarded with a salary of upto £46k, and beyond for the right candidate, 33 days floating holidays, free parking etc
