Halifax/Bradford Area

Our client, an engineering & manufacturing company based between Bradford and Halifax, have an immediate requirement to recruit an experienced design engineer to manage their team.

The Opportunity

As part of our continued growth and expansion, as well as being awarded various significant contracts, an excellent opportunity has arisen for a design engineer to move on to the next step and manage the existing team of 6 design engineers. The role will involve the design and development of bespoke customer products and ensure that each project is managed from inception to delivery and install, where you will play a very hands-on role.

Key Requirements and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the existing design team of 6.
  • Liaison directly with customers as & when necessary.
  • Detail component and assembly design using 3D design software (Preferred Design Software - Inventor).
  • Produce design or technical documentation required to manufacture product.
  • Produce and provide any technical documentation required by the customer.
  • Design and document any special processes required by the customer or/and the design including Quality plans, ATEX Docs, Detail Schedules.
  • Liaise with all internal and/or external resources as required.
  • Support any new product, method or processes required to meet the design.
  • Maintain the principles of 5S in the areas used to conduct your duties.

Skills & Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years product design experience.
  • Degree qualified in an Engineering discipline or relevant mechanical design-based subject.
  • Be able to work under own initiative.
  • Be able to learn quickly and think laterally.
  • Be able to manage the team and manage projects to completion.
  • Be able to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Experience of 3D modelling (Inventor) and 2D drafting (AutoCAD).
  • Ideally experience of the following software: Microsoft Office & Autodesk Vault.

This is a permanent role where you will be expected to work regular office hours Monday to Friday (early finish on a Friday). Some flexibility is available with regards to start and finish times.

In return you can expect a salary of £40k - £45k dependant on previous experience and a benefits package commensurate with the position.
