Our client, based in the Castleford area, has an immediate requirement to recruit a well-versed Electronics Design Engineer. The company designs and builds products for demanding industrial applications. We are seeking a mid-level Electronics Engineer to join the team and handle PCB design and safety compliance for our drive product range.

About the role

You will design and develop PCBs for control systems, from schematic through to production, using Altium Designer. You will also lead safety and compliance activities, including product documentation and certification support for UL and CE marking. You will report to the Engineering Manager and work alongside the Team Leader. This role suits an engineer who enjoys hands-on design work and takes safety and compliance seriously.

What you will do

  • Design and develop PCBs for control and drive systems using Altium Designer
  • Work across stepper, servo, and BLDC motor control platforms
  • Debug hardware issues through to root cause, using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyser, LISN, and probes
  • Support safety certification work, including UL and CE marking, EN ISO 13849, and IEC 60204
  • Work with test houses and certification bodies on new product approvals
  • Maintain design documentation and keep it audit-ready
  • Contribute to Cyber Resilience Act compliance work, covering incident reporting and secure-by-design requirements for connected products
  • Work alongside firmware, mechanical, and quality engineers during integrated system testing
  • Support production with build issues and design changes
  • Support sales with technical queries about product capabilities

What you need

  • A degree in Electronics Engineering or a related field
  • Solid experience designing PCBs in Altium Designer, from schematic through to production
  • Experience with motor control electronics, ideally stepper, servo, or BLDC
  • Experience with machinery safety standards
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, including EMC and noise issues on mixed-signal boards
  • Comfortable using lab equipment: oscilloscopes, spectrum analyser, LISN, PSUs, microscopes, thermal chamber
  • Clear written communication, needed for documentation and audits

Nice to have

  • Experience with UL and CE marking processes specifically
  • Experience with induction motor drive systems
  • Experience with Profibus or other industrial communication protocols
  • Firmware experience, even at a basic level
  • Awareness of the EU Cyber Resilience Act or similar connected-product regulation

Working environment

You will have access to a full electronics lab, a wet test lab, and 3D printing facilities, supporting fast iteration from design to physical test. This is a permanent role where you will be expected to work regular office hours Monday to Friday (some flex). In return, you can expect a salary of £40k - £47k plus bonus potential.
