CYLINDRICAL Grinder

Location: Shipley

Our client, a large engineering business based in Shipley, has an urgent requirement to recruit a well‑versed Cylindrical Grinder for their team.

Duties

• Complete pre‑use machine inspections, record results, and report any hazards or faults.
• Complete asset care tasks in line with the maintenance schedule.
• Monitor metal‑cutting fluids to ensure correct tank levels and percentage concentration are maintained, highlighting concerns with the environmental team and team leader. Maintain and clean tanks in line with the service schedule.
• Use the working day to complete in‑cycle tasks where cycle times allow, including running additional machines or conducting additional manual operations.
• Set and operate cylindrical grinding machines in line with SOPs and setup sheets.
• Produce and inspect parts in line with drawing specifications and quality standards, including deburring and part marking.
• Achieve required machine efficiency targets.
• Capture data, use manual and computer systems to book and record material movements, record process times, downtime, part quantities, and other information to assist in department control and development.
• Adhere to the production plan.

Ideal Candidate

• Strong track record in a similar role.
• Apprentice‑trained engineer (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).

These are permanent positions. Shift pattern: 6 am – 2 pm / 2 pm – 10 pm (10:30 pm on a Friday) equals 37.5 hours per week.

Pay: £18.42 per hour plus a 21.25% shift allowance, equating to an annual salary of £43,563.
