We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for an on-site Maintenance Electrician in HMP Long Lartin. The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week, across 7 days as a 1 in 3 weekend shift pattern is in place, which comes with an additional allowance of 15% of basic salary. You will also be part of the on-call team rota, contributing to the responsive works. The base salary is between £30,866 - £36,135 dependant on experience.

As an Electrician, you’ll play a key role in maintaining safe, compliant systems and supporting sustainability, all while making a real impact in a vital public service.

What you will do:

  • Planned and preventative electrical maintenance, including administrative duties aligned to the tasks.
  • Actively fault finding / problem solving on electrical systems across the prison.
  • Carry out like for like replacements and other electrical minor works with the relevant electrical inspections and tests carried out and results recorded in accordance with BS7671.
  • Ensuring that all electrical systems are safe, compliant, and functioning effectively helping to create a secure and well-maintained environment for staff and residents.
  • Assist the Responsible person and Authorised person when requested.
  • You’ll be responsible for ensuring that Health & Safety standards, Risk Assessments, and Safe Systems of Work are consistently implemented and followed across all appropriate work streams.
  • Assist escorting duties and other duties as required.

What you will bring:

  • City & Guilds 2367 or 2357 Level 2 Electrical Installation works or equivalent.
  • BS7671 18th Edition, however, we will consider 17th Edition with upskilling to 18th Edition.
  • Good working knowledge of Health & Safety requirements.
  • Good working knowledge of planned and preventative maintenance operations.
  • Excellent organisational, time management and people skills.
  • Experience of working under pressure to tight deadlines.
  • Able to work at heights, to work independently and use initiative.
  • Understanding of fire alarm and CCTV systems, which will help you make an immediate impact. (Desirable)
  • Knowledge and experience of Electrical Systems and Electricity at work Regulations.
  • Basic IT skills.
