Amey is recruiting skilled trades and FM operatives to support HMP Long Lartin and HMP Stocken, helping keep critical facilities safe, clean and operational every day. We’re hiring Electricians, Plumbers, Maintenance Technicians, Painters & Decorators, Grounds Maintenance Operatives and Cleaners. Whether you’re trade‑qualified or an experienced site‑based operative, there’s a role here for you.

What you’ll be doing:
- Electrician: Carrying out planned and reactive electrical maintenance in a secure environment. Requirements: Level 2 Electrical qualification, 18th Edition (or 17th with upskilling), solid maintenance and H&S experience. Salary: Between £30,866 - £36,135 depending on experience +15% shift allowance for working 1 in 3 weekends.
- Plumber: Delivering plumbing maintenance, fault‑finding and repairs to keep water systems safe and compliant. Requirements: NVQ Level 2 Plumbing & Heating (or equivalent), commercial maintenance experience, full UK driving licence, strong H&S awareness (Legionella desirable). Salary: Between £30,866 - £36,135 depending on experience +15% shift allowance for working 1 in 3 weekends.
- Maintenance Technician: Supporting day‑to‑day maintenance across the site, keeping buildings safe and operational. Requirements: General building or maintenance experience, practical DIY skills, multi‑skilled knowledge (fire checks, emergency lighting, water checks or general repairs). Salary: Between £28,792 - £31,792 depending on experience and specific role +15% shift allowance for working 1 in 3 weekends where applicable.
- Painter/Decorator: Delivering planned and reactive painting works while supporting the CRED programme, helping improve environments and develop prisoner skills. Requirements: NVQ Level 2 or 3 Painting & Decorating, on‑site experience, strong H&S awareness, confidence working in a secure setting. Salary: Between £28,792 - £33,532 depending on experience +15% shift allowance for working 1 in 3 weekends and CRED allowance where applicable.
- Grounds Maintenance Operative: Maintaining outdoor areas through landscaping, horticulture and grounds upkeep. Requirements: Full UK driving licence, grounds or horticulture experience, relevant tickets (weed spraying / chainsaw or equivalent), strong H&S awareness. Salary: £27,426 +15% shift allowance for working 1 in 3 weekends where applicable.
- Cleaner: Providing an essential cleaning service to maintain a safe and clean environment. Requirements: No formal qualifications needed — we’re looking for reliable, punctual and flexible team players. Salary: £27,426 +15% shift allowance for working 1 in 3 weekends where applicable.
