Permanent Highways Maintenance Operative to join Area 10 - Strategic Highways account based in Milnrow depot, Rochdale.
A Highways Maintenance Operative plays an important part in the installation of temporary traffic management and all aspects of highway maintenance works including routine and cyclic maintenance, minor civil works, litter picking, etc.
Responsibilities- Maintain high technical standards.
- Attend project and work briefings as required.
- Drive/operate vehicles and plant requiring general and specialist skills, including vehicle checks, routine maintenance, and cleaning.
- Complete all aspects of highway maintenance works including routine and cyclic maintenance activities, minor civils’ works, litter picking, etc.
- Perform winter maintenance operations.
- Provide emergency call-out operations.
- Take responsibility for the safety of yourself and others within your team to ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and safe operation to protect members of the public.
- Perform vehicle checks prior to shift starting, correctly fill in defect books.
- Record drivers' hours.
- Allocate and capture time and resource utilisation in line with operated allocation system.
- Maintain records, complete necessary paperwork, communicate and liaise with other employees of Amey, sub-contractors, the emergency services, the police, the general public, clients and customers.
