We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Principal Project Manager – Rail/TFL to join our dynamic Eastern & Southern team in London. 37.5 hrs per week, Hybrid working with an expectation to be in the office/site 4 days.

In this role, you will lead the delivery of multiple large projects or small programmes/portfolios, safely, on time, to budget, and to the required quality standards to meet client and business objectives.

Ensure consistent project management standards, governance, and client engagement.

Manage and develop Senior Project Managers and Project Managers to deliver high-quality outcomes aligned to Amey’s strategic and commercial objectives.

This role offers you the unique opportunity to work with one of the three Transport for London’s main contractors on the infrastructure improvements framework covering multidisciplinary functions across rail -i. e.

Civils, Track, Buildings, Power etc

What You’ll Do

  • Provide leadership and direction for multiple large projects or small programmes/portfolios.
  • Establish and maintain governance and assurance frameworks across all projects under remit.
  • Ensure all projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Act as a key point of contact for senior client stakeholders, ensuring Amey is viewed as a trusted delivery partner.
  • Manage the commercial and financial performance of multiple projects, monitoring budgets, forecasts, margins and KPIs.
  • Line manages Senior Project Managers and Project Managers, ensuring performance, development and succession planning.
  • Oversee risk, issue and opportunity management across the portfolio, ensuring proactive mitigation strategies are in place.
  • Promote innovation, continuous improvement and digital tools across project delivery teams.
  • Support in business development activities, including bids, proposals and strategic client engagements.
  • Embed Amey’s culture of health, safety, sustainability and wellbeing across all project teams.
  • Ensure knowledge transfer and lessons learned are embedded across projects to improve future delivery.

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven track record of leading multiple multidisciplinary projects or small programmes/portfolios in excess of 10 mil +
  • Strong background in governance, assurance and risk management across portfolios.
  • Evidence of driving commercial success and achieving financial targets across projects.
  • Experience in Rail and/or tram networks desirable.
  • Chartered Project Professional (APM Ch PP) or equivalent desirable.
  • Full Member of the APM or equivalent - Desirable.
  • NEC4 Accreditation – Essential
  • NEBOSH - Desirable
